The Return of EPA's Libraries
This article caught my attention due to its direct link to science research. The Environmental Protection Agency decided to shut down many of their libraries and minimize open hours at others becuase they were trying to cut costs. The EPA claimed that, "its library shutdowns wouldn’t affect research by its employees or the public". However, the libraries they shut down were, "sometimes the only publicly accessible repository of important gray-literature filings and reports on environmental issues". However, Congress has taken an interest in this case and has given the EPA $1 million to reopen the libraries again. Although the libraries may reopen in different locations, they will once again be open to the public.
