"Science as Art"

In 2005 and 2006, Princeton held a competition called "Art of Science". The other day the Washington Post posted pictures of it on the front page of its website, which is weird because the pictures were 2006 entries.
I really liked the whole idea of science as art and art as science. The website that this post links to is the actual website run by Princeton. At the bottom of the page are links to 2005/2006 entries. My favorite is "Color Patterns of an Iron Extraction Time Series," by Andrew Altevogt. The images also have a description of the science used to create them.
I also wonder where art/science like this would be put; should it go in a science museum or an art museum? I don't think either is would be wrong.
